Meet the board

Before Heleen van den Berg joined Cordaid in October 2023, she was the director of National Assistance at the Netherlands Red Cross. In the preceding years, she held different board positions at IOM and the Royal Dutch Touring Club (ANWB), where she led the marketing department for four years.

Heleen is a seasoned director and with social commitment, international experience and connecting leadership, she is determined to make the organisation and its work for people in fragile settings future-proof.

“I feel very connected to Cordaid’s mission to work for – and together with – people who live in the world’s most challenging areas and circumstances,” says Van den Berg. “Poverty and insecurity are on the rise all over the world and Cordaid links emergency relief to structural development, wherever it is needed most. I believe in this approach and in the power of partnerships and collaboration.”

Other functions: member of the Supervisory Board at the Prison Gate Museum and the Historical Museum in The Hague.

As of January 2021, Lorena Paz Quintero is Cordaid’s Chief Financial Officer. Previously she filled the same position at Oxfam Novib.

Inspired by her upbringing in Venezuela and backed by her experience in finance and the development sector, she firmly believes she can provide a valuable contribution to Cordaid’s mission to fight inequality in the world’s most fragile regions.
