The violence in Gaza continues. Over 40,000 people have been killed, and an estimated 1.9 million people (90% of the population) have been uprooted from their homes. Most Gazans have no access to food or clean water and live in hazardous circumstances due to airstrikes.
Humanitarian access to Gaza is still seriously hampered, increasing the risk of famine and disease outbreaks by the day. Cordaid partner Caritas Jerusalem is one of the few humanitarian organisations that can still assist people in Gaza, thanks to their zealous volunteers.
Cordaid supports Caritas Jerusalem’s activities in various locations in the region with the proceeds of a national fundraising campaign in the Netherlands.
Caritas Jerusalem’s Humanitarian Action So Far:
- The establishment of 9 medical points and 17 medical teams that have treated over 40,000 patients in Gaza.
- Psychosocial services for 1,500 people.
- Distribution of clean water and food parcels in the refugee camps.
- Cash assistance for over 4,000 households.
- Vocational training for unemployed youth.
This video, created by Gazan filmmakers, will give you a shocking, raw, and moving glimpse into the lives of people in refugee camps. It will also give hope by showing how Gazans still go out of their way to help each other, even in the darkest times.
