Within Cordaid’s Security & Justice efforts, the Just Future Program is a flagship initiative. Just Future is a multi-country, multi-partner program that seeks to strengthen social contracts in fragile contexts. More info at: https://justfuturealliance.org

The program aims to:

  • Promote people-centered security: Foster trust and cooperation between communities and security providers.
  • Enhance access to justice: Advocate for legal reforms and empower communities to pursue equitable justice.
  • Encourage inclusive decision-making: Work with women’s rights organizations and youth groups to ensure their voices are heard in peace processes.

Internship responsibilities

Cordaid’s Security & Justice Team is looking for an intern for the period January – July (6 months). The intern will support the Security & Justice Team and the Just Future Program across several tasks. Key responsibilities include:

1. Development of Training Materials on the role of civil society within the UN Universal Periodic Review (UPR):
Assist in creating training resources for civil society organizations on engaging with the UN Human Rights mechanisms, with a specific focus on the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) process. This task involves collecting first-hand insights on UPR-related lessons and strategies form local partners, synthesizing information, and contributing to drafting practical guides to strengthen civil society engagement, under the supervision of the Justice Expert.

2. Compilation of a Track Record  for Cordaid’s Security & Justice Programming:
Under the co-supervision of the International Fundraising and Donor Relations (IFDR) department, assist in compiling a comprehensive track record of Cordaid’s work in the Security & Justice sector. This task includes collecting data, synthesizing information, and summarizing program impacts to support fundraising efforts and strengthen donor relations. 

 

3. Support the Security & Justice Team with Various Tasks:

Contribute to the team’s operations by drafting internal communications, preparing meeting minutes, assisting in organizing events, and providing occasional administrative support.

Candidate Profile

We are looking for a candidate who meets the following criteria:

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's level university programme in International Relations, Law, Development Studies, Human Rights, or a related field.
  • Proficient in English and French (both spoken and written).
  • Strong interest in justice, peacebuilding, and international development.
  • Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
  • A proactive, self-motivated attitude and a willingness to learn, ask, and contribute.
  • Candidates must be able to work in the EU and meet the administrative requirements for working in the Netherlands (by obtaining a BSN number);
